  • A 16-5 run in the 3rd quarter turned the tied for the Lakers. And even though they were again out-rebounded badly in the final period (16-6), they compensated with some very good passing and 3-point shooting to get the win.

They totalled 30 assists, 10 by Kobe Bryant to go along with his 19 points. Lamar Odom lead the way with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Six Lakers reached double figures.

  • After keeping the lead for most of the game, it is easy to find the reason for the Lakers loss; a 16 to 4 rebound edge in the 4th quarter for Utah. That was a big reason behind their 7-1 run in the last minute of the game.

  • Despite shooting 37% for the game, the Lakers did hit 8-20 from 3-point range (40%). And although 67% from the line is bad, anytime you make 31 free throws it is a good thing. Combine those with better ball handling and improved defense, and the Lakers get the win. Reliance on Kobe was heavy tonight; 20 in the 1st quarter and 40 for the game.
  • The Cavs barely hang on for the win after leading by 21.
  • Indiana closes out the game 14-0 to get the win.
  • A strong start for the Pistons, and they never let go fo the lead after.
  • A 10-0 start to the 4th quarter was the seperator for the Hornets.
  • Tied at the half, the Mavs dominated the last two periods.
  • The Nuggets got back the lead for good with their 20-8 4th quarter run.

  • The Grizz broke open a close game with their 21-2 run late in the game.

  • San Antonio made their big move with a 16-2 run in the 3rd, then had to fight off a couple charges by Portland in the 4th.
  • Another close game blown open at the end by Seattle.

  • It's unusal to see a game won by 12 points in OT, but that's what the Net's did with 16-3 run in the extra period at Washington.

  • Kobe Bryant scored almost all his points in the 4th quarter, and the Lakers 14-2 run was the only time all night that they looked focused. Unfortunately they were down by 23 before then, so it was too little too late. The Pistons pulled away in the the 3rd when Tayshaun Prince scored 18 of his 31. As a team they shot 9-18 (50%) from 3-point range, while the Lakers were just 6-21 (29%).
  • Utah had 3 players over 20 (Deron Williams 26 and 14 assits, Carlos Boozer 24 and 14 rebounds, Mehmet Okur 21 and 6 rebounds) but needed a 5-0 run near the end to solidify the win. Paul with 30 for Boston.
  • A back-and-forth kind of game in New Jersey, decided after Miami's 24-9 run in the 4th quarter. Dwyane Wade with 34 points and 10 assists, and Udonis Haslem with 28 and 9 rebounds. 33 for Vince Carter.
  • Six in double figures for Houston, who spent most of the game pulling away from New York. The Knicks finally got within 6 near the end, but no close. 35 and 17 rebounds for Yao Ming.

  • The Real Breakout: Although he has played surprisingly well already, Andrew Bynum really made a statement tonight with 20 points, 14 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 0 fouls. He lead the Lakers in almost every category (17 hv, 1.26 prod, 32 eff, 14 +/-). And beyond the numbers, he was an imposing presence on the defensive end.

Not that it was all that easy for the Lakers. They put some runs together early in the 3rd and did have a 20 point lead. But the TWolves wouldn't say die and came back with a 15-3 run in the 4th. It took a well timed block and 2 free throws by the kid to put the game away.

All five starters reached double figures; Kobe Bryant 17 points 6 assists, Lamar Odom 15 points 9 rebounds, Luke Walton 14 points 9 rebounds 5 assists, Smush Parker 11 points. Minnesota was lead by Kevin Garnett's 26 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.

  • Not much defense in Washington tonight. Gilbert Arenas scored 11 of his 44 in the final quarter to help stave off the final Celtics run. Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler added 29 and 20 respectively for the Wizards. For Boton, 33 by Wally Szczerbiak and very good games by Telfair and Pierce.
  • Charlotte got the win at home with a 10-0 early in the 4th quarter. They were lead by Raymond Felton, Brevin Knight, and Sean May. Notables for Cleveland were Drew Gooden and LeBron James.
  • A Pistons trademark (big run near the end of regulation) was evident tonight as they broke a tie with a 14-3 run. Rasheed Wallace with 15 points and 13 rebound, and Rip Hamilton with 24. Hakim Warrick with 21 for Memphis.
  • The Pacers controlled the 4th quarter and extended their 1 point lead to 16. Sarunas Jasikevicius score 14 of his 16 in that final period. Al Harrington lead them with 32 points and 7 rebounds.
  • A runaway for the Rockets. Yao Ming with 36 points and 6 rebounds.
  • A huge 3rd quarter run helped the Bucks pull away from the Kings for good; 13 by Andrew Bogut and 10 by Charlie Villanueva in the period. Mo Williams with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 12 assists for Milwaukee.
  • Utah took the lead early and were never really challenged. Golden State never got closer than 13 points in the second half.
  • The Blazers scored the last 5 points and got a 2 point win. Portland went with just 8 players, and 5 of them scored in double figures.
  • The Clippers and Suns took turns controlling periods, and the Clips 23-9 run in the 4th quarter was enough to get the lead for good. Corey Maggette scored 23 and grabbed 12 rebounds.

  • Energized by the return of Kobe Bryant, the Lakers came out on fire in the 1st quarter and blazed to a 20 point lead. Lamar Odom socred 11 and Luke Walton 10 in the opening period, and Andrew Bynum added 3 blocks, to propel the Lakers to their big lead.

But the rest of the way, they found thenselves in a dog fight. Seatle powered their way back in and wouldn't go away. The Lakers defense finally came back towards the end of the game, and an 18-10 run gave them the win. Ronny Turiaf lead the rally with 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 big blocks in the final 6:22.

Lamar Odom was once again the leader with 28 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists. A career night for Luke with 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. And Kobe Bryant retuned to score 23 points and dish 6 assists in 41 minutes.

Ray Allen scored 30, but was held scoreless in the final frame.

  • A 14-0 run early in the 4th quarter got the win for the Hornets. Rasual Butler scored all 11 of his points in the period.
  • A zigzag game. Many lead changes. The team with the last run (6-0 Sixers) won the game. Allen Iverson with 39 points and Kyle Korver with 28 in 30 minutes off the bench.
  • Toronto's 26-7 run to start the 4th blew a close game wide open. Six players in double figures for the Raptors, lead by Chris Bosh's 26 points and 15 rebounds.

  • It's unusual to see guys at the end of the charts come up with big numbers. But that's what Ronny Turiaf did tonight. He scored 14 of his career high 23 point in the 3rd quarter when the Lakers took the lead and control of the game.

Of course the Lakers don't win anything without Lamar Odom leading the way with 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists. He returned in the final minutes to help stave off a comeback by the Warriors.

Luke Walton had a strong game with 15 points and 6 rebounds, while Brian Cook also had a good game off the bench with 8 and 8.

  • Orlando controlled their game from beginning to end behind Dwight Howards' 27 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Philadelphia had a 19-2 1st quarter run and held the lead from there. Allen Iverson scored 32.
  • The Paces took over their game in the 3rd quarter as Jermaine O'Neal scored 11 of his 20 points.
