Denver 104 LA Clippers 120
The Clippers began to pull away from the Nuggets with a 21-6 run to start the 3rd quarter, but the Nuggets fought back to a 3-point deficit going into the 4th. The 4th belonged solely to the Clippers as they
used runs of 18-5 and 12-5 to pull away for the win. It helps when you shoot 68% in the final period and 52% for the game. Good games by Elton Brand and Corey Maggette, but huge game by Quentin Richardson.
|
Portland 71 Detroit 78
A very tight game until the Pistons' 15-3 run late in the 4th quarter that decided the game. Detroit got 15 rebounds and 6 blocks from Ben Wallace, and good help off the bench from Corliss Williamson.
|
Philadelphia 72 Houston 80
The Rockets had the lead most of the way in this one, but the game was tied several times and they only lead by 3 at the end of three quarters. That all changed with their 12-0 run to open the 4th, which gav
e them a 14-point lead and allowed them to cruise to the 8-point win. Good game by Yao Ming.
|
Golden State 70 New Jersey 88
A close first half, then two huge runs by the Nets turned this game into a blowout. Very good game by Jason Kidd.
|
New Orleans 96 Boston 94
At least 7 lead changes in a reall back-and-forth battle. The Hornets strung two runs together in the fourth, but had to survive on last charge from the Celtics to hang on for the narrow win. Good game by B
aron Davis.

|
Atlanta 83 Washington 73
The Hawks lead all the way after a 27-7 1st quarter run. Sharif Abdur-Rahim was the player of the game.
|
Chicago 93 Minnesota 98
The Bulls fought back from a 20-point deficit to get a tie a couple of times, but couldn't get past that point. Another huge game by Kevin Garnett.
|
Indiana 92 Cleveland 89
The Pacers started their move late in the 2nd quarter, and by the end of the 3rd they had a 15-point lead. They seemed to run out of steam in the 4th, but survived a push by the Cavs and hung on for the 3-point win. Jermaine O'Neal was best for Indiana.
|
Miami 73 New York 102
New York pours it on from the start, gets little resistance from Miami, and cruises to a 29-point win. Very good game by Keith Van Horn.
|
Milwaukee 92 Dallas 101
A couple of runs by the Bucks in the 3rd made it interesting, but this game was pretty much all Mavs. Antoine Walker, Steve Nash, and Dirk Nowitzki all had good games for Dallas.
|
Seattle 105 Memphis 99
The Grizz started the 3rd quarter with a 24-10 run that grabbed them a brief lead, their only of the game. But the Sonics had grabbed it back by the end of the quarter and increased it in the 4th for the 10-point win. Rashard Lewis and Ray Allen were big in the final period for Seattle.
|
Toronto 81 Denver 74
Toronto stuck with their starters for most of the 3rd quarter, and it paid off for them in the form of a 24-10 run. They had to fight to keep a lead in the 4th and hung on for the win. No standout for the Raptors, but Chris Bosh scored all 11 of his points in the 3rd.
|
|
December 29, 2003
|
Memphis 86 Indiana 94
The Grizz had the upper hand early on but didn't get that much of a lead out of it. That set up Indiana's push in the second half, particularly their 17-7 4th quarter run. Jermaine O'Neal lead the way for the Pacers.
|
Miami 90 Chicago 83
A like night and day game. The Bulls have all the fun in the first half and lead by as much as 17. Then it's the Heat's turn in the second half to make the runs and they win by 7. Very big game by Lamar Odom for the Heat that overshadows good games by Jerome Williams and Antonio Davis for the Bulls.
|
New Orleans 99 Detroit 108
Lots of runs by the Pistons and just enough runs by the Hornets to keep it interesting. After New Orleans tied it up with a 12-0 run early in the 4th, Detroit answers with a 21-12 run to finish the game. Corliss Williamson came off the end of the bench to score 8 in that final quarter, Chauncy Billups scored 31, and Ben Wallace had the best overall game for Detroit.
|
New York 114 Orlando 86
The Knicks had no trouble with the Magic tonight. A 29-14 first quarter run was all that was really needed. The Heat, without Tracey McGrady for the final three quarters, couldn't make a dent in a lead that just kept growing. Thomas, Houston, Williams, Van Horn, and Ward all with good contributions for New York.
|
Philadelphia 97 Utah 106
The Jazz used a strong first half to survive the lone second half run by Philly and win by 9. Carlos Arroyo had the big 1st quarter, and Raja Beel and Raul Lopez took care of the 2nd for Utah.
|
Seattle 87 Houston 86
Only three runs in this entire game. The Rockets lead most of the way based on a 6-0 run near the start and another 6-0 run near the end of the 3rd quarter, with a lot of even play in-between. The third run was 12-3 by Seattle in the 4th. Their one and only run gave them a lead that they barely hung onto for the 1-point win. Ray Allen getting back in shape with the very nice game.
|
Boston 100 Golden State 91
Boston had a nice 18-point lead late in the 3rd quarter and had control of the game. That is until Golden State turned out a 20-6 run to narrow the lead to two. The Celtics immediately responded by outscoring the Warriors 11-2 for the win. Paul Pierce lead the way for Boston.
|
Phoenix 113 LA Clippers 105
To their credit, the Clips had some fight in them at the end. But it wasn't enough as they only narrowed and 12-point deficit to 8 in the 4th quarter. The Suns got a very big game from Stephan Marbury. He scored 16 of his 40 in the 3rd quarter to help his team pull away from the Clippers.
|
Portland 91 New Jersey 87
Three small runs help the Nets build a 12-point lead by mid 3rd quarter. Then the Blazers turn the tables on them with two big runs and take a 9-point lead. They had to survive one final charge by the Nets and came away with the 4-point win.

|
December 28, 2003
|
Boston 82 LA Lakers 105
Not one of their best games, but much better than they had shown recently. It's good to see Shaq dominate, seven players in double figures, the bench contribute, and some of the younger guys get playing time.
The Lakers got off to a hot start shooting 59% for the 1st quarter, but the Celtics hung with them and only trailed by 4. The 2nd was fairly even and Lakers lead by 8 at the half.
After an exchange of runs early in the 3rd the Lakers extended their lead to 15 behind a 6-0 run towards the end of the period. The 4th was mostly garbage time as the Celtics never challenged after that.
Huge game for Shaq. Good game for Fish, Slava was impressive, and Horace had maybe his best game of the season.
|
Toronto 94 LA Clippers 88
These two fought back and forth for 3½ quarters. The game wasn't decided until the Raptors 12-4 run in the middle of the 4th quarter. Toronto was lead by Donyell Marshall and the Clips by Elton Brand.
|
Golden State 79 Denver 103
The Warriors built a mountain, then fell down off of it. Their 14-point 1st quarter lead was eroded by a Nuggets onslaught in the next two quarters, and turned into a 20-point deficit. Denver then coasted to the win and rested their starters. Nuggets lead by Marcus Camby, Nene Hilario, and Earl Boykins off the bench.
|
Milwaukee 74 San Antonio 89
This game was over by the middle of the 2nd quarter when the Spurs had built a 19-point lead. Even though the Bucks got within three early in the 4th, the Spurs quickly generated some runs and won by 15. Several good games for San Antonio, but Ginobili had the best.
|
Philadelphia 92 Phoenix 100
Philly lead 3-2 a minute into the game, and never had the lead again. The Suns used two runs to build a 16-point 1st quarter lead and that was it. The score got close at times, but the Sixers couldn't string enough points together and Phoenix hung on for the win. Shawn Marion with a big game for the Suns.
|
Utah 89 Sacramento 98
Early in the 3rd quarter the Kings had the biggest lead of the game at 10. That's when th Jazz put up the biggest run of the game and ended the period with another to take a 2-point lead. But a 10-0 run by Sacramento was enough to get the lead back and give them the win by 8 in a close one. Very big game by Peja Stojakovic.
|
Portland 74 Cleveland 86
A 20-6 run in the 4th quarter blows open what had been a close game for the Cavs. LeBron James is big in that period and the whole game.
|
|
December 27, 2003
|
Detroit 87 Atlanta 84
A game of three runs. A fairly even 1st quarter. A big run by the Pistons in the 2nd. A big run by the Hawks in the 3rd to grab the lead. And the big 4th quarter run by the Pistons again to regain the lead and get the win by three.
Rip Hamilton lead the way for Detroit and Sharif Abdur-Rahim did for Atlanta.
|
Memphis 98 Dallas 104
This one was a game of peaks and valleys as the Grizz kept fighting big Mavs leads and came up a little short.
Huge games by Bonzi Wells and Lronzen Wright for Memphis. Dirk Nowitzki and Antoine Walker lead the way for Dallas.
|
Minnesota 104 Seattle 86
Minnesota pulled away from the Sonics with a 16-5 run in the 2nd quarter, and continued pulling away in the second half. As usual, Kevin Garnett and Sam Cassell come up big for the TWolves.
|
New Jersey 82 Indiana 75
One run in each quarter got the Nets a 16-point lead by the mid-4th quarter. Then, out of the blue, the Pacers come up with their one and only run of the game and close to within 2 with just a minute to go. The Nets woke back up in time and closed the game out 5-0 to win by 7.
Jason Kidd and Kenyon Martin star for New Jersey.
|
New York 100 Miami 80
The Knicks had little trouble with the Heat and lead wire-to-wire. Very big game by Keith Van Horn, and nice one by Antonio McDyess off the bench.
|
Washington 86 Chicago 100
A Bulls 20-5 run in the latter 3rd quarter, and an 11-1 run to start the 4th, pretty much ended what had been a competitive game. Huge, huge performance by Jamal Crawford.
|
|
December 26, 2003
|
Atlanta 79 New Orleans 109
This is a new one on me. The Hawks coach pulled the starts at 8:26 of the 3rd quarter and played the rest of the game with the bench. I know, they were down 27, but that is kind of a drastic move. The bench didn't do any better, but they didn't do any worse either.
The Hornets couldn't have had an easier time of it as they ran at will. David Wesley was the star and Baron Davis also had a strong game.
|
Boston 104 Phoenix 102
By 5:51 of the 3rd quarter, the Suns had built a 17-point lead on a series of runs. But at that same moment, the Celtics came to life with a 16-0 run and had tied the game and the end of the period.
The Celtics continued in the 4th with an 11-1 run to lead by nine and things were looking good. Then the Suns rose again with a 7-0 string for another tie with just 30 seconds left in the game. After an exchange of three point baskets, there was another tie with just 14 secons to go. It took a 19 ft. jumper by Ricky Davis with just 2 seconds left on the clock to win it for Boston.
Good game by Shawn Marion for Phoenix in defeat.
|
Indiana 96 Milwaukee 101
A 14-0 run by the Pacers to start the game is followed by a 17-4 surge the Bucks, and the two are only one point apart at halftime.
Early in the 3rd quarter the Pacers again try to run away from the Bucks with a 17-4 run of their own. This time, the Bucks not only fought back but dominated the 4th with two big runs and won by 5.
Big game by Toni Kukoc off the bench for Milwaukee.
|
Miami 92 Washington 84
A very tight game if finally decided by the Heat's 22-9 run that covered most of the 4th quarter. Rasual Butler came off the bench then and gave them a big lift, and Eddie Jones had the best overall game.
The Wiz got good contribuition from Etan Thomas and others, but it wasn't enough tonight.
|
New Jersey 82 Detroit 79
A big run to start the game for the Nets and they keep a lead of between 10 and 15 points for the first three quarters.
The Pistons finally respond with 20-6 run to end the 3rd. After a tie in the early 4th, the Nets restore order with a 18-8 run that was that.
Jason Kidd with the big game as Wallace had 18 rebounds for Detroit.
|
New York 98 Memphis 94
A good first half gave the Knicks enough of a cushion to narrowly hold off the Grizz. Good game by Keith Van Horn.
|
Orlando 83 San Antonio 98
This game was closer than the final score would indicate. The Spurs didn't pull away until the started their 15-0 run half-way through the 4th quarter. Up until then the Magic had stayed close.
Tim Duncan with his usual very big game, and Robert Horry with the good one off the bench.
|
Sacramento 91 Golden State 98
The Warriors had slowly built a 14-point lead and looked to win easy half way throught the 4th quarter. But the Kings had one more run in them to get as close as two, but Golden State stopped them right there and hung on for the win.
Great game by Troy Murphy off the bench for the Warriors.
|
Minnesota 92 Portland 101
Portland's 25-8 run to start the 2nd quarter was the turning point. They lead by 18 at the half and never relinquished the lead again.
Best performance for the Blazers was by Wesley Person off the Bench. Great all around game by Kevin Garnett went for naught for the TWolves.
|
Chicago 87 Cleveland 80
These two were evenly matched tonight, and fought back-and-forth for the lead. A mere 7-0 run in the 4th gave the Bulls the lead and the win. Crawford lead the way for Chicago.
|
Houston 94 Denver 95
A fast start by the Bulls helps them build 14-point half-time lead. Then the Nuggets use three runs in the 2nd half to erase that lead and squeak out a 1-point win. Voshon Lenard gave Denver the edge by making all three free throws after being fouled above the arc with just 8 seconds left.
Carmello Anthony lead the way for the Nuggets.
|
Toronto 94 Utah 97
A real back-and-forth squeaker. The Jazz, who had the edge in runs in the 2nd half, just couldn't shake the Raptors and needed overtime to get the 3-point win.
Vince Carter had the best game in a losing effort.
|
Philadelphia 98 LA Clippers 101
Though close at times, the Clippers lead this game most of the time. Though there were few runs by either squad, the Clips had enough to hang on for a 3-point win.
|

|
Houston 99 LA Lakers 87
Lakers had problems on both ends of the court most of the time tonight. They played matador defense often, and shot only 38% for the game. I don't know if it was the Rockets defensive scheme but it seemed that, in the latter part of the game, every shot the Lakers took was a difficult shot.
A horrible 1st quarter was followed by two quarters of the Lakers slowly crawling back into the game. The defense perked up as they caused 6 turnovers in t
he 3rd. This continued for a few minutes to start the 4th, but on offense they still had trouble getting good shots or they just shot too quickly.
The Rockets, who only shot 31% in the 3rd, took their time and were able to get good shots. In the 4th they shot 50% and ran away from the Lakers with a 20-6 run. Most of the offense in this stretch came from Francis, Mobley, and Taylor.
|
Cleveland 101 Orlando 113
A very tight back and forth game, until the overtime. Then the Magic finally closed the extra period and the game out with a 10-0 run. Huge game by McGrady. Good offense from James for the Cavs, but not enough help.
|
Dallas 111 Sacramento 103
The Kings had the strong first half and lead by as much as 18. But the Mavs started hitting their shots in the second half and took control of the game. A 10-2 run to start the 4th and a quick 8-0 at the end gave them the win. Nowitzki was the star with good help from Walker. Strong effort by Divac goes for
naught.

Technical Note: I have changed the GameFlows from being static web pages with gif images for the graphs to being CGI driven and the graphics generated on the fly. You might not notice the difference, but I would appreciate any comments on problems or performance. Thanks.
|
LA Lakers 98 Golden State 107
The good was a 21-10 run in the 1st quarter giving the Lakers an 8-point lead. The bad was imediately giving up a 11-0 run at the start of the 2nd. The ugly was the 17-3 run by the Warriors that ended the half and the 9-3 run right after intermission.
Now, there was a little bit of good after that. A 15-4 surge by the Lakers got them back into the game after being down 21. But they never got much closer than that.
Most of the Lakers just seemed subpar tonight, like they were out of synch. More so than would be expected due to the absence of Karl Malone, particularly against an opponent they shouldn't have this much trouble with. Devean George had a pretty good game but was hampered by foul trouble. Cliff Robinson had a solid game although there were no standouts for Golden State.
|
Boston 88 Atlanta 93
Boston controlled the first half to steadily build a 12-point lead. And Atlanta just as steadily tore that lead down and eked out a 5-point win at home. Good game for Abdur-Rahim.
|
Chicago 78 New Jersey 95
The Bulls and Nets evened up big runs in the 1st quarter. Then the Nets used a series of small runs to gradually build a 23-point lead by the early 4th. Kidd and Kittles with nice games.
|
Dallas 88 Portland 97
Very strong showing by the Blazers as they gradually build a 16-point lead against the Mavs, then hang on against the comeback. Zack Randolph is the star again for Portland.
|
Detroit 78 Milwaukee 83
Milwauke dominate the first half to lead by as much as 16, then goes into cruise control in the second and has to hang on for a 5-point win. Very good game by Joe Smith helps spoil a great performace by Ben Wallace.
|
Indiana 79 Houston 71
The Pacers get the better of an exchange of runs to build a 15-point lead in the 4th and survive one final charge by the Rockets. Very good game by Jermaine O'Neal.
|
LA Clippers 90 San Antonio 111
No contest here as the Spurs dominate the Clippers. Elton Brand did is usual yeoman job, but got little help. Good games for Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Tim Duncan.
|
Minnesota 98 New York 92
A very close, seesaw game in which the last run won. In addition to the usual good contributions from Kevin Garnett and Sam Cassell the TWolves got good offense from Latrell Sprewell.
|
New Orleans 86 Cleveland 97
A Jekyll and Hyde game with the Hornets easily building a 12-point first half lead, and the Cavs turning the tables on them in the second to win going away. LeBron James scored 18 of his 22 in the final 2 quarters, and Eric Williams had a big 4th. Also a nice game by Carlos Boozer.
|
Phoenix 90 Seattle 116
A relatively even first half was in contrast to the dominating 2nd half of the Sonics. Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis both with very good games.
|
Washington 72 Miami 79
Weird game. Miami runs away with the 1st quarter. Then Washington take control in the next two, turning a 13-point deficit into a 5-point lead. Then Miami apparently remembers what they did right in the 1st and run away with the 4th to win by 7. Dwayne Wade, Rafer Alston, and Caron Butler come up big for them in the final period.
|
Memphis 97 Sacramento 114
The Grizz had the big run in the 1st quarter. But the Kings dominate the next three to win going away. Very good games by Brad Miller and Peja Stojakovic.
|
|
December 22, 2003
|
Memphis 99 Denver 106
A seesaw battle that the Nuggets got the better of, twice stretching the lead to 11. Their 14-4 run to start the 4th quarter was enough to withstand one final charge by Memphis. Miller is the star for Denver, and some nice minutes by White off the bench. The Grizz got big games from Gasol and Posey.
|
Orlando 73 Philadelphia 95
The Sixers kept a short lead for most of the game. Then the flood gates opened in the 4th quarter with their 25-3 run that stretched the lead to 28. Without Iverson, there was no standout for Philly. Just a lot of solid contributions.
|
Utah 92 Chicago 80
Two big first half runs by the Jazz made this game very one sided. The Bulls didn't have enough to respond to their 15-point half-time deficit. Very big game by Kirilenko for Utah.
|
|
December 21, 2003
|
Phoenix 101 LA Lakers 107
After a 9-2 run by the Suns to start the game, the Lakers went to work. Despite missing Karl Malone due to a knee injury, they used four uncontested runs to change the 7-point deficit to a 13-point half-time lead. Most important was the 9-0 surge that ended the 2nd quarter. Byron Russell did a good job of filling in for Karl and Devean George was also big in the first two quarters.
And although Devean kept going in the second half, it didn't prevent the Lakers from having their usual lull. While they were unable to produce any runs, the Suns did to close to within 3 points a couple of times. The Lakers had enough left to hold them off with a good 4th from Kobe Bryant, Gary Payton, George, and Luke Walton off the bench.
Impressive games for Phoenix by Marion and Marbury.
|
Golden State 93 Miami 104
Even though Miami lead this one the whole way, the Warriors kept trying and made two big runs at them in the second half. They weren't enough as the Heat won by 11. Lamar Odom had a big 1st quarter, but Duane Wade had the big game.
|
Orlando 104 Toronto 93
A 7-0 run that lasted just 1:08 of the 3rd quarter was difference make for the Magic. They held on to that lead the rest of the way and added a 6-0 spurt in just 52 seconds for good measure. Good games for Orlando by Juwan Howard and Tracy McGrady. Very good game by Donyell Marshall for the Raptors.
|
Philadelphia 84 Boston 87
The 2nd quarter of this game was mostly devoted to the Sixers 25-9 run that gave them a 13-point half-time lead. But the Celtcis came up with two big runs in the 2nd half that allowed them to eke out a 2-point win. Pierce had a big second half as part of a big game.
|
Portland 98 Sacramento 117
The Blazers got interested in the 2nd quarter and were only 1 point down at the half. But that was pretty much the end of the good news for them as the Kings put up two big runs that went unanswered in the second half and won going away. Big game for Valde Divac.
|
|
December 20, 2003
|
LA Clippers 115 Dallas 105
A couple of runs in the 2nd quarter gave the Clippers a 10-point lead at the half. And they held onto it the rest of the game. Playing their 2nd road game in two nights, the Clips got huge production from Brand and Richardson. Not a bad game for Maggette either. Jamison had another strong effort off the bench for the Mavs.
|
Atlanta 92 New York 103
While the lead hovered around the zero line for the first half, the Knicks asserted themselves in the second. A 15-0 3rd quarter run, and a 13-2 one late in the 4th, got no response from the Hawks who found themselves down by 17. Best game for New York was by Van Horn.
|
Cleveland 95 Chicago 87
This one was going back and forth until the Cavs went on a 23-9 run that spanned most of the 4th quarter. James was especially effective with 15 of his 32 points in the final period. Ilgauskas was also very good for Cleveland.
|
New Jersey 87 Milwaukee 92
The Bucks were having a comfortable time of it with a 10-point-plus lead for most of the game. Then, in the 4th quarter, the Nets arose to put up runs of 7-0 and 13-0 and actually grab a 1-point lead. This was short lived, however, as Milwaukee responed with a 7-0 run and didn't give up the lead again. Some very good help off the bench by Jones and Gadzuric for the Bucks.
|
Memphis 89 New Orleans 94
Although the lead seesawed in this game, the Hornets had the better of it with their three big runs. A 21-8 surge at the start of the 4th quarter gave them a 14-point lead, which was enough to withstand one final charge by the Grizz. New Orleans was lead by Baron Davis.
|
Seattle 115 Denver 106
The two first half runs by Seattle gave them the lead for good. They added a 15-4 run for good measure at the start of the 3rd quarter. Not much response from Denver in the rest of the game. Unlikely heros for the Sonics with Murray and Frahm having huge games. Lenard and Miller were very good in a losing effort.
|
Houston 87 Phoenix 102
After being in a close game for three quarters, the Suns were the ones to finally break lose and dominated the 4th quarter. Marion lead the way with 15 of his 25 points. He also finished the game with 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals, and 3 blocks.
|
San Antonio 101 Portland 91
The Spurs apparently didn't have to try too hard in this one. Two first half runs to none, and they cruised from there. Yet another fine performace for Duncan. Decent game for Nesterovic as well.
|
Indiana 80 Minnesota 102
By the time Minnesota was done running their layup drills, they had a 36-point lead at 3:31 of the 3rd quarter. They shot 58% for the first half and 52% for the game.
The effort of Indiana's bench came up way short, but at least they gave an effort which can't be said for their starters.
Again, huge game for Garnett and very good support by Cassell. These two are becomming quite a duo. Good job by Hoiberg off the benc h as well.

|
Denver 99 LA Lakers 101
He wasn't supposed to play. He didn't arrive at the arena until after the game had already started. He didn't even get a chance to warm up. It had to have been a long, long day for Kobe. But he was there to hit the shot when they needed him to.
The Lakers had gradually built up a 19-point lead by the middle of the 3rd quarter. Shaq had been very impressive as they had no one who could guard him. But the Nuggets wouldn't go away and fought back to within 10 at the end of the 3rd.
Then, either because the Lakers relaxed or the Nuggets finally hit their stride, Denver put up a 23-9 surge that got them a tie on Carmello Anthony's free throws with 2.3 left in the game. I was all set for OT when Kobe nailed the twisting fall-away jumper to win it. It was a longshot and he hit it.
|
Golden State 93 Orlando 119
No contest here. The Magic got the lead at the start and just kept increasing it. Huge games by McGrady and Gooden.
|
New York 99 Toronto 105
After three early runs by Toronto, the Knicks answered with a 16-7 run in the 2nd quarter to narrow their deficit from 11 to 2 points at the half.
In the second half, the teams took turns making runs ended regulation tied. The outcome was undecided until the Raptors 6-0 run to finish overtime and win by 4.
Soild games by several for Toronto, particularly Carter and Marshall.
|
Sacramento 98 Atlanta 86
The Hawks fought back but couldn't prevent the Kings for keeping the lead almost the whole game and winning by 12. Very good game for Stojakovic. Good game by Terry goes to waste.
|
Washington 87 New Jersey 97
The Nets lead by as many as 20, but the Wizards kept comming at them to make the game interesting. New Jersey wouldn't let it go though. They answered Washingtons protracted 18-9 4th quarter run with an 11-0 run that ended all doubt. Huge game for Martin.
|
Utah 99 Boston 96
The Jazz tried to break open a close game with a 24-8 run to open the 3rd quarter. The Celtics were having none of it and clawed their way back from 18 down to take a 1-point lead with 50 seconds left in the game. It took two unanswered hoops by Raja Bell for Utah to take the 3-point win. Good games from severl for the Jazz.
|
Detroit 75 Indiana 80
Detroit seemed to have control of this one until Indiana finally found its offense and produced a 22-4 run in the 4th quarter. Austin Croshere had a very big qaurter to help the Pacers. But this was yet another low scoring, poor shooting NBA game.
|
LA Clippers 85 Houston 99
A 2-0 lead was the only one the Clippers saw. They never got closer than 7 in the 2nd half. Very good games by Ming and Mobley.
|
San Antonio 87 Seattle 73
A 25-8 run that spanned most of the 1st quarter was all the Spurs really needed to win this one. Another very big game for Tim Duncan.
|
Cleveland 88 Philadelphia 81
The early part of this game belonged to the Sixers. But the last 2½ quarters belonged to the Cavs as they made the slow climb out of a 14-point hole to win by 7. James with the big game.
|
Miami 83 Memphis 97
From the late 2nd quarter and through the 3rd, the Grizz put on a giant surge that resulted in a 24-point lead. A lead the Heat couldn't recover from. Good production from several players for Memphis.

|
Dallas 109 Minnesota 114
The TWolves lead most of the way in a close game at home tonight. Mav's made some runs that got them a tie late in the 3rd quarter, and a brief 1-point lead in the mid-4th. Minnesota responded with a 9-1 run and held on for a 5-point win.
Monster game by Garnett with good help again from Cassell. Another nice game by Jamison off the bench goes to waste for Dallas.
|
Sacramento 101L New Orleans 90
Not much of a contest. The Kings built a 25-point lead before the Hornets managed a run. Miller with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 9 assists.
|
Phoenix 94 Portland 101
Either these two were evenly matched, or they were both out of synch. The one run in the first half gave the Blazers a 9-point lead, the largest of the game. The suns first run came in the 3rd quarter. Their 10-0 surge gave them a 5-point lead.
Portland seemed to wake up in the 4th. They started with a 14-1 run, and then answered a Phoenix run by outscoring them 8-0 to get the win. Zach Randolph was outstanding with 29 points and 20 rebounds.

Chicago 73 Detroit 77
With a 1-point lead after 1 period, the Pistons got going in the 2nd quarter and continued going in the 3rd until they had a 16-point lead. Then, either Detroit fell asleep or Chicago woke up, or both, because the Bulls went on a 10-1 tear in the last 2:05 of the period. They followed that in the 4th with a 14-2 run that gave them a 4-point lead.
But the Pistons had one of their pattened late game runs and finished the game 13-5 to squeak out a 4-point win. Wallace had 15 rebounds and 8 blocks.
|
Dallas 103 Boston 105
Antoine Walker's first game back in Boston and Ricky Davis' first game with the Celts. Neither had a huge impact on the game. This one was controlled by Dallas with several runs for the first three quarters. Then Boston finished the 3rd with and 8-2 run and exploded in the 4th with a 22-11 run that lasted most of the period. This allowed them to eke out a 2-point win on Pierce's jumper at 0:20 and McCarty's free throw at 0:09.
Big game for Pierce, who contributed heavily in the 4th. McCarty and Baker were also helpful in the final period, and Welsch had a decent game. Real good game for Jamison off the bench was wasted by Mavs.
|
Denver 99 Seattle 98
Denver had a 13-point lead twice in the first half, then had to fight off Seattle in the second for a narrow 1-point win. With the lead changing hands several times, it took Carmelo Anthony's layup at 0:06 to decide it. Very good game for Miller and good game for Camby.
|
Golden State 98 Atlanta 85
After the 1st quarter, this one was pretty much all Warriors. Outstanding game for Dunleavy and good offense by Richardson.
|
Houston 89 Cleveland 85
There were at least seven lead changes in this seesaw battle in Cleveland. And, as often happens, the last run wins the game.
Houston went on a 12-0 tear in the 4th quarter to grab a 5-point lead with 3 minutes left in the game. They held onto it from there. Good distributed effort for the Rockets. Good game by Ilgauskas in a losing effort
|
Miami 76 Philadelphia 87
The Sixers ran away with this one in the second half as they produced two big runs that were unopposed by the Heat. Aaron McKie scored 16 of his 20 in the half.
|
Milwaukee 83 LA Clippers 93
The Bucks finally got a big run going in the 4th quarter, but by that time the Clippers had amassed a 24-point lead and had enough to withstand the surge. Good games by Maggette and Brand.
|
Orlando 94 Indiana 90
The Magic looked like thy had a handle on this one when their 17-8 3rd quarter run gave them an 11-point lead at 3:08. But the Pacers made it exciting with a series of small runs to tie and take a brief 1-point lead. Orlando the went 5-0 in the final 2:08 of the game to get the win. Orlando got great bench play from Drew Gooden and Keith Bogans.
|
Toronto 70 San Antonio 73
San Antonio seemed to be defending their home court well when they built a 13-point lead at half-time and exetended it to 15 early in the 3rd quarter.
However, Tornoto, who apparently couldn't shoot straight in the 2nd, got their shooting touch going in the 3rd and surged to a 5-point lead. Donyell Marshall scored 10 of his 19 in that quarter.
It became tight after that and the Spurs, who didn't have a run the whole second half, managed to eke out a 3-point win. Great game by Duncan. But this was another embarrassingly low scoring game in which the teams shot less than 40% combined.
|
Utah 74 New Jersey 87
The Nets held a slim lead for most of the first half. Then they finish the 2nd quarter with a quick 7-0 run, started the 3rd with a 15-4 run, and poof! They had a 19-point lead. The Jazz managed one run the entire game and were no threat in the second half. Good games for Kidd and Martin.

|
Atlanta 79 Miami 97
This game was even for the first half, then the Heat took off in the 3rd quarter behind Odom, Wade, and Jones. After their 7-0 run to start the game, the Hawks never got their offense going again. Good game for Odom. Very good game for Wade.
|
Golden State 104 New York 86
One run for the Knicks and that was it. From the mid-2nd quarter on the Warriors gradually built a 22-point lead with no opposition. Best games were by Richardson and Dunleavy.
|
Houston 75 Minnesota 92
The Twolves also used the 2nd quarter as their starting point for building a large lead. And they also faced little resistance from the Rockets. Great game by Garnett. Not a bad game for Cassell either.
|
New Orleans 94 Denver 116
The Hornets never knew what hit them. The Nuggets got out to a 24-point lead before the they even get a run started. By then it was way too little way too late. Big game for Camby. Good games also by Hilario, Lenard, and Anthony.
|
Orlando 88 Chicago 102
Knotted at 42 at the half, the Magic took the lead with an 11-4 run to start the 3rd quarter. But the Bulls came back with a vengance outscoring them 25-8. For all intents an purposes, the game was over before the 4th quarter. Very good games by Hinrich and Gill off the bench.
|
Sacramento 100 Memphis 105
Down by 14 early in the 2nd quarter, the Grizz responed with a 22-7 run that made a game out of it. The Kings regained the lead with a 15-2 run in the 3rd, but the Grizz responed again and held on for the 5-point win. Good game for Gasol, and Battier and Swift off the bench.
|
Seattle 91 Phoenix 92
The Suns' 20-2 run in the 2nd quarter turned a 16-point deficit into a 2-point lead. It was a neck-and-neck game after that. A very even 4th was followed by an overtime that was the same, and the Suns eked out a 1-point win. Good game by Marion.
|
Utah 87 Washington 91
This was a back-and-forth game. The Wizards had the biggest lead at 14 early in the 2nd quarter, but it became a close game after that. It wasn't until Washington's 20-10 run in the 4th that they got the lead for good and hung on for the narrow 4-point win. Very good game by Hughes.
|
Milwaukee 106 Portland 99
A Jekyll and Hyde game with the first half belonging to the Blazers, the second to the Bucks. Portland got within 1, but Milwaukee responded with an 11-4 run to end all doubt. Very good game for Thomas, good game by Smith.
|
|
December 15, 2003
|
New Orleans 80 LA Clippers 109
A huge 2nd half by the Clippers turned a close game into a rout. Jaric scored all 19 of his points in those last two quarters. Outstanding game for Brand. Very good game by Richardson.
|
Cleveland 85 Indiana 95
A 13-8 run in the 1st quarter was all the Pacers really needed at home tonight. The Cavs did tie it up in the 3rd but it didn't take much for the Pacers to retake the lead and extend it in the 4th. Very good game by O'Neal. Also a good game by James in a losing effort.
|
Memphis 67 San Antonio 78
The Grizz' 18-9 run in the 2nd quater gave them a 6-point lead, their largest of the game. But it wouldn't last long.
The Spurs finished the quarter with a 11-2 run, then kept on going in the 3rd with a 15-4 run to extend their lead to 14. They didn't have much trouble after that. Very good game for Duncan.
|
Minnesota 116 Boston 95
This game was all TWolves. The Celtics had one run in the 2nd quater and that was it. Garnett scored 14 in the 1st and had a great all-around game. Also a very good game for Cassell. Decent game by Pierce with 9 rebounds and 11 assists, but only 15 points on 6 of 18 shooting.
|
Toronto 94 Dallas 111
The Raptors seemed to be having things their way as they were making all the runs and built a 13-point lead early in the 3rd quarter.
That's when the Mavs woke up and started making runs at them, finishing the game with a 25-9 surge. Very good games by Nash, Walker, and Jamison.
|
|
December 14, 2003
|
Miami 90 Toronto 89
These two teams took turns making runs until Miami recovered from an 11-point deficit with a 17-2 run that gave them the lead for good. Neither made any big moves after that and the Heat hung on for a 1-point win. Decent games for Odom, Wade, and Grant.
|
Milwaukee 102 Seattle 108
The Bucks had a great 1st quarter with 2 big runs that gave them an 18-point lead. Redd had 13 and Thomas 12 in the period.
Unfortunately for Milwaukee, that was most of their offense for the whole game. The Sonics made the slow climb back into the game and eventually got the lead without any big response from the Bucks.
Steady game form Seattle's starters, but the big push came off the bench from Murray, Frahm, and Ridnour.
|
Phoenix 102 Sacramento 107
The Kings were down by 14 after 3 quarters and had responded little to the Suns runs in that tine. The 4th was another story as they immediately went on a 23-6 tear to get a 5-point win. Good game for Stojakovic, and Jackson off the bench.
|
Utah 94 Philadelphia 86
The Jazz kept trying to pull away, but the Sixers wouldn't let them. Then Utah's 18-7 run in the 4th quarter ended Philly's hopes. Very
good quarter and outstanding game by Kirilenko. Also good were Harpring and Arroyo.
|
Washington 87 New York 89
Expcept for a brief 11-point lead in the 3rd quarter, this one was very close. The teams took turns making runs, and the Knicks kept the biggest for last with 20-11 surge that gave them the lead and the win. Houston was very good in the period and for the game.

LA Lakers 108 Portland 112
I thought the Lakers would take out their frustrations from last night on the Blazers tonight. Instead, they just built up more frustrations.
Down 10 points at 4:28 of the 2nd quarter, the Lakers finally got their offense going with a 15-4 run that lead to a tie at half-time. This run was shortly after George, Malone, and Payton re-entered the game. Kobe, socreless in the 1st, scored 11 in this period. In the 3rd quarter, the Lakers 10-2 run gave them a 5-point lead. But that's as good as it would get.
Portland responded with a modest 6-0 run that erased the Lakers lead. The Lakers had no more runs in them after that. They managed to tie it a few times in the 4th, but just couldn't get over the hump. Portland just outrebounded them. Add to that a not so good defensive effort and this is what you get.
Very good game by Kobe was wasted. Portland got good games from Randolph, Stoudamire, and Wallace.
|
Boston 105 Cleveland 98
Two first half runs by the Celtics were good enough to get them a win tonight. With a 12-point half-time lead, they withstood 2 good runs from the Cavs that narrowed the lead down to 2 in the mid-4th quarter. But they managed to hang on for the win. Very big game by Pierce.
|
Denver 88 New York 95
A real seesaw contest as the two teams took turns going on big runs. The last one was 23-8 by the Knicks in the 4th that gave them a 7-point win. Good bench play for New York by Doleac and Williams.
|
Houston 73 San Antonio 86
After a 13-6 run in the 1st quarter, the Spurs kept the lead the rest of the game in beating the Rockets by 13. Nesterovic socred 8 of his 14 in that period. Duncan with only 8 for the game, but he had 12 rebounds.
|
Indiana 75 Chicago 86
The Bulls decide the outcome with a 16-0 run in the 3rd quarter at home tonight. Crawford and Hinrich came up big in that period.
|
New Jersey 63 Memphis 110
You might say the Nets didn't show up for this one. They way the line just wanders in the Grizz direction until they had a 48-point lead looks like they were running layup drills. Strong team effort by Memphis. Don't know what else to say about New Jersey in this one.
|
Orlando 105 Atlanta 102
This seesaw battle was decided by Orlando's 11-0 run late in the 4th quarter. Williams and McGrady were big in that period and very good overall game for McGrady.
|
Phoenix 91 LA Clippers 106
Clips lead almost the whole way at home tonight. They outshot the suns and had a huge reboudning edge 60-36. Good games by Maggette and Brand.
|
|
December 11, 2003
|
Detroit 86 Cleveland 95
Even though the Cavs lead most of the way, it was a very close game up to the 2½ quarter mark. But that's the point at which they went on runs of 13-5 and 7-0 and wound up with a 16-point lead. The Pistons came up with their ususal 4th quarter run, but this time it was too little too late. Very good game by Carlos Boozer.
|
San Antonio 71 Houston 67
It must have been a defensive struggle as the Spurs shot 32% and the Rockets 41%. Nine points was the biggest lead in this very close game, the lead going back and forth. Houston seemed to have things going their way early in the 4th. The Spurs responed, though, with two late runs and eked out a 4-point win. Eight more turnovers for the Rockets may have been the difference. No real standout for the Spurs. Just good distributed effort from Duncan, Parker, Nesterovic, Ginobili.
|
New Orleans 111 Phoenix 101
The Suns were pressing the issue in the first quarter, but they ran out of steam after that. The Hornets went on two modest runs in each of the next two quarters to build a 16-point lead. Phoenix responded a little after that, but it wasn't enough. Another very good game for Baron Davis.
|
|
December 10, 2003
|
Dallas 99 LA Clippers 100
The Mavs get out to a 20-point lead after 1 quarter and you'd think the game was over. But the Clips made the long, slow comeback, and won it on Glen Rice's jumper as the clock ran out. Excpet for a 1-point lead early in the game, they never had it again until that moment. The combination of Maggette, Brand, Jaric, and Wilcox seemed to do the trick as the Clippers went on a 14-5 run that culminated in the win. Very good games by Maggette and Wilcox off the bench.
|
Golden State 89 Milwaukee 94
Milwaukee jumped out to an 8-point lead in the 1st period at home. But that would be the biggest lead of the game. And the contest would become a tight, seesaw battle. It was not decided until the Bucks outscored the Warriors 7-2 in overtime. Very good game by Michael Redd, and a big game from Dan Gadzuric off the bench.
|
Portland 77 San Antonio 102
In San Antonio tonight, the Spurs got an 11-point lead after 1 quarter and held on to it around there until early in the 4th. That's when then went on a 26-10 run to leave no doubt as to the outcome. Good game for Duncan.
|
Orlando 95 Washington 91
Orlando wins its second game in a row! After being down by 9 in the 2nd quarter, the Magic found themselves with an 11-point lead mid-way through the 3rd. They had to struggle from their to hang onto a narrow 4-point win. Very good game for McGrady, while the Wizards waste a great effort by Brown off the bench.
|
Atlanta 90 Memphis 103
Although the Hawks held the lead for most of the game, the Grizz took it away late in the 3rd quarter and kept extending it in the 44th until they won by 16. Very good game for Earl Watson, and also good production from Gasol and Miller.
|
New York 73 Utah 95
A close game in the first half, Utah pulled away in the second starting with a 12-0 in the 3rd quarter. The Knicks got within 6 early in the 4th, but the Jazz responded with 25-7 run that put the game away. Interesting game by Kirilenko as he scored only 10, but had 12 rebounds, 6 assists, 6 steals, and 5 blocks! Also good games by Harpring and Bell off the bench.
|
Seattle 112 Boston 126
This game was all Celtics. Not a defensive struggle. Hard to be happy when you allow 112, unless you score 126. But it really wasn't that close. After a close 1st quarter, Boston went on a 24-7 run when Pierce renetered the game. He scored 17 of his game high 36 in that period, and grapped 14 rebounds for the game. The Sonics did go on a 25-4 run in the 4th, but it only cut their deficit to 10. Boston put some starters back in, and that was that.
|
|
December 9, 2003
|
New York 90 LA Lakers 100
After an unimpressive 1st quarter, the Lakers started the 2nd with a 21-4 run. It was nice to see Shaq and Kobe lead the way in that quarter. Good games for those 2 and Karl in his return. Also another good one from Bryon Russell off the bench.
The Knicks got as close as 4 points early in the 4th, but Shaq was brought back in to restore order. After shooting 55% in that 1st quarter, New York ended up shooting 42% for the game. I guess the Lakers woke up and started playing defense.
|
Toronto 100 Cleveland 93
Raptors went on a 18-2 run late in the 3rd quarter to complete a comeback from 9 points down. Newcomers Rose and Marshall score 21 of the Raptors 31 points in the period.
|
Denver 98 Atlanta 112
The Hawks run away from the Nuggets in the 3rd quarter with and 18-2 run, lead by Ratliff and Abudr-Rahim.
|
Phoenix 72 Miami 92
The Suns built a modest 7-point lead early in the 2nd quarter. From that point on, the flow line went in the other direction until the Heat had a 23-point lead. Very good game for Wade.
|
Golden State 98 Minnesota 95
Big runs by the Twolves in the 2nd and 3rd quarters seemed to give the edge to Minnesota. They came back from 11 down to take a 6-point lead.
But the Warriors wouldn't go away. And a late 8-2 surge by them, culminated by Jason Richardson's 3-point shot in the final second, gave them the win.
|
LA Clippers 95 Sacramento 105
Down by 21 early in the 3rd quarter, the Clippers go on a 25-7 run that reduced the Kings' lead to 2. The problem was, that was their only run of the game. The Kings reasserted themselves unopposed and won by 10.
|
Washington 79 Indiana 93
The lead moved slowly but surely in the Pacers direction until they had a 22-point lead in the 4th quarter. Solid team effort for Indiana.
|
Philadelphia 78 Detroit 76
This close game seemed to be decided when Philly got a 9-point lead in the mid 4th quarter. Then Detroit, as they usually do, go on a late game run 20-12. It wasn't quite enough this time as the Sixers hang on for the 3-point win. Good game off the bench for Aaron McKie.
|
Seattle 88 New Jersey 101
Using only their 5 starts, the Nets increased a 7-point lead to 20 in the 3rd quarter. Good games from Martin, Kidd, and Jefferson.
|
Portland 91 Houston 93
Down 16 in the mid-3rd quater, the Blazers charged back at the Rockets to claim a 4-point lead with just 3 minutes to play. Houston had a run left in them, however, and got the 2-point win. Good distributed effort by the Rockets. Very good game by Randolph wasted.

|
Phoenix 98 Orlando 105
I would have thought that a 22-point 1st quarter lead, particularly against Orlando, would have been enough to decide the outcome. But it pays to remember that on any night, in any game, anything can happen. And instead of folding up their tent, the Magic made the slow climb back into this game and won by 7.
Marion and Hardaway had their way early to get the Suns out to the big lead. Orlando must have made some defensive adjustments because, after scoring 41 on 72% shooting in the 1st, Phoenix scored only 57 the rest of the game, finishing at 44% shooting. Good games for Orlando by Howard, Giricek, McGrady, Gooden, and others.
|
San Antonio 96 Chicago 82
The Bulls lead most of the way in a seesaw first half. San Antonio went on a 25-8 run in the 3rd to turn the lead around, but they couldn't hold on to it. It wasn't until the 4:45 mark of the 4th that the Spurs went on a 19-4 run that won the game for them. Ginobili had just re-entered at this time and score 14 points in 5 minutes.
|
Milwaukee 85 New Orleans 91
New Orleans had a 15-point lead early in the 2nd quarter at home, but the game became a close one after that. Even though the Hornets led most of the way, the Bucks were the aggressors going on runs of 14-2, 14-3, and 10-3. But it wasn't enough as the home team hung on for the 4 point win. Wesley, Magloire, Brown, and Davis, were all big contributors.
|
Boston 102 Utah 80
After losing to the Lakers by only 2 points in LA, the Jazz go home and get destroyed by 22. After a close 1st quarter, the Celts just run away from them with huge runs that got no response from Utah until it was too late. Very good game off the bench for boston by Eric Williams.
|
|
December 7, 2003
|
After an early Jazz run of 8-2, the Lakers went on runs of 14-2, 12-1, and 8-2 that gave them 21-point lead at about the middle of the 3rd quarter. There still seemed little to be concerned about as Utah narrowed the lead to 14 going into the 4th.
But the Jazz, with 5 reserves in for the whole period, were much hungrier than the Lakers and produced 13-4 and 13-3 runs that gave them a 1-point lead with 55 seconds to play. Handlogten, Pavlovic, and Williams made the most of their opportunity and almost got the win.
The Lakers, however, were saved from embarassment by Devean George's 3-point shot at the 24 second mark. Double figures for all the starters and a good game from Slava subbing for Karl.
Not a win to be too proud of. But a win nonetheless. |
| Utah 92 |
LA Lakers 94 |
| |
Tonight, things were looking good for the Clippers. They went on an 8-0 run to start the 4th quarter, extending a 7-point lead to a 15-point lead over the visiting Bucks.
So what happens? They lose. In the final 8 minutes of the game, Milwaukee outscores them 28-11. Most of the offense was provided by Sam Cassell with help from Kevin Garnett. The Clippers see double-figure scoring by all five starters go to waste. |
| Minnesota 96 |
LA Clippers 94 |
| |
The Trail Blazers looked to be running away from the Griz, going up by as much as 15 early in the 2nd quarter. Then, as the flow line shows, Memphis made a slow but effective charge back at them that lasted the rest of the game. This culminated with their 22-7 4th quarter run that turned a 1-point deficit into a 14-point win.
Bonzi Wells got a measure of revenge against his former team by scoring 10 of his 16 points in the deciding period. Good games for Gasol and Miller, and Earl Watson had 14 assists and 6 rebounds to counter his 1 of 7 shooting.
|
| Portland 79 |
Memphis 93 |
| |
| Sonics started the game very hot going on a 24-11 run. But their only other run was too little too late as the Raptors increased their scoring each quarter and won by 10. Big games for Carter, Bosh, and Peterson scored all 12 of his points in the final period. |
| Seattle 98 |
Toronto 106 |
| |
| It was not a defensive struggle in Denver as both teams shot 50% or better. Boston lead most of the way, and by as much as 16, before letting Denver tie it up in the 4th quarter. The Celts eke out a 5-point win on the road as James and Pierce come up big for them in the 4th quarter. Anthony and White gave good effort in vain for Denver.

A 13-4 run seemed to give the Kings a commanding 16-point lead at the mid-point of the 3rd quarter. But two Pacer runs later (19-4 and 6-0), and they found themselves down by 4. Sacramento throws a 6-0 run right back at them and, in what was very low scoring 4th quarter (17-15), the Kings hang on to that lead and win by 3,
Good games by Miller and Divac, and big 4th by Stojakovic. Good distributed effort by Indiana. They just came up a little short.

|
| The Warriors had 7 men in double figures and win at home by 12. It wasn't that easy though as the Knicks lead most of the first half in a close game. But New York seemed to run out of steam in the second half as the Golden State bench was much more effective than theirs. |
| New York 92 |
Golden State 104 |
| |
| Atlanta couldn't get any runs going in the second half so Cleveland's runs in the final period gave them the edge at home. The Cav's bench (Miles, Kapono, Mihm, Ollie) helped them a lot in the 2nd and 4th quarters. |
| Atlanta 85 |
Cleveland 95 |
| |
| The chart vividly shows the lead flowing in the Rocket's direction. The Piston's made their usual 4th quarter run, but it was too little too late this time. Houston got a big game from Yao Ming and 11 assists from Francis. |
| Detroit 80 |
Houston 86 |

| Orlando recoverd from Dallas' big 2nd quarter run to nearly tie the game. But the Mavs just did it again in the 3rd, and that was enough to subdue the Magic. Very big game for Antoine Walker. |

Dallas 110 |
| |
| This one was close until the Nets 11-0 late 3rd quarter run propelled them to a 15-point lead. Taking turns on runs in the 4th, Phoenix went 14-0 early to erase New Jersey's lead only to see the Net's go 14-2 late to grab the win. Huge game by Shawn Marion wasted by the Suns. Balanced effort by several for the Nets. |

| This very close games was not decided until the Hornets 16-4 run late in the 4th quarter. The 9-point lead they got was the largest of the game. The amazing part of this game was Jamal Crawford's 23 points in the final period. He only got 6 points from his teammates, however, while New Orleans got a big lift from Darrell Armstrong off the bench and Steve Smith. |
| New Orleans 97 |
Chicago 91 |

The Wizards used a strict platoon system for the first half in Milwaukee and it seemed to work well for them as they got out to a 15 point lead with little resistance from the Bucks.
But despite Larry Hughes' 15-point 4th quarter, the Bucks used a great quarter from Michael Redd and Kwame Brown's tip-in of Larry Hughes 3-point miss tied the game at the buzzer.
The OT, however, resembled the first half as the Wiz win by 7. Brevin Knight, even though he gave Damon Jones 3 free throws at the end of the game, was key off the bench in the extra period. |

| Sprewell scores 10 in the 3rd as a 22-6 Twolves run gave them a 15-point lead in Sacramento. The Kings kept chipping away at them and their 21-6 run in the 4th gave them a brief lead that they couldn't hold. Minnesota's 8-1 run in OT wins it for them. Monster all-around game by Garnet. |

| Raptors 6-0 run in 25 seconds during the final minute of play decided this one. The Hawks came back from 12 down to get an 8-point lead, but couldn't hold it. Carter came up big for Toronto in the 4th, and Rose had a very good game too. |

| Although the Sixers lead almost the whole way in Miami, the Heat gave them a run for their money in the 2nd half narrowing a 19-point lead down to 1 with 39 seconds to play. But for the 2nd night in a row Iverson makes the last FG of the game at 0:21 to seal the win for Philly. Good game by Odom wasted by Miami |

| A huge 24-9 Hornet run in the 2nd quarter was countered by the Rockets with a huge 21-5 run in the 3rd. Houston cruised from there as New Orleans made no run at them in the 4th. Ming, Cato, and Mobely were big during the run in the 3rd. |

| The Bucks didn't get quite a big enough run going in the 1st quarter and seemed to give up after that. Their 11-0 run in the third got them within 5, but that's all they could manage. Nets got big games from Martin and Kidd. |

Denver maintains its composure and goes on a 11-3 run to win by 7. Big Games for Anthony and Camby. |

A 25-8 run at the start gave the Lakers a lead they would never lose. From there the lead fluctuated between 6 and 19 points. Most of the time it was more than 10. Shaq dominated early. Fortson's youth was so effective he only played 4 minutes the whole game.
Payton was effective early too, burning the Mavs with layups several times. He and Malone both had good games with double-doubles. Kobe lead the way scoring 32. But Shaq, with 25 and 23 HelpValue in 38-minutes, was outstanding. The bench was not quite as effective again tonight, although Russell finally got it going in the 4th.
But the key stat once again was the opponent's FG% of just 37%. I think the Lakers realize that, even with all their firepower, defense is the key. This squad can be a great defensive team.

Chicago was on fire in the 1st quarter going on a 21-9 run and looked to be in control for 2½ periods.
But as bad as Philly looked, they were never down more than 11. And sure enough, they go 11-0 to tie the game in the the 3rd and end the period up by 2.
The Bulls had one more run in them (6-0) in the 4th to regain a 2-point lead. It was a tug-of-war from that point on with the Bulls looking to have the advantage. But the Sixers got the 1-point win on Iverson's 17-foot jumper with 47 seconds left in the game. Neither team scored after that.
Good game for Iverson, with help from Dalembert.

Opponent's FG% had not been too good against the Lakers of late. The Spurs seemed bent on changing that particular statistic as they shot 50% for the first half and had as much as a 15-point lead.
But the Lakers finally clamped down on defense late in the 2nd quarter. This, as usual, kick-started the offense and they went on a 10-1 run to narrow the lead to 6 at the the half. This surge also coincided with the re-rentry of Payton and Malone into the game. Ginobili had 11 for the Spurs in this period, but did little for them the rest of the game.
In the 3rd, the Lakers repeatedly tied and fell behind. They just couldn't get past even and were behind by 9 at the end of 3 periods.
Then, in the 4th quarter, the Lakers put together a 20-8 run fed by repeated blocks and forced turnovers. Kobe and Karl lead the scoring, and the whole team participated in stiffling defense. The Spurs shot only 18% in the period.
Shaq didn't score much this game, but I think his 9 blocks rattled the Spurs. As all great players do, he found another way to contribute.
